He Rescued a Bear Cub After Her Mother Was Killed — Seven Years Later, They’re Still Together

What began as a simple act of kindness turned into an extraordinary bond between a man and an orphaned bear cub in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 🐻❤️

In 2019, Petar Tubic, from Doboj, Bosnia and Herzegovina, rescued a young bear cub named Masa after her mother was believed to have been killed.

Petar initially planned to care for the helpless cub for just a few days. But as Masa grew, so did their connection, and what was supposed to be a temporary rescue became a life-changing commitment.

Inspired by Masa, Petar eventually created Nasa Masa (Our Masa), an animal sanctuary and nature retreat located on Mount Ozren in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In 2020, another female bear named Ljubica joined the family.

Today, the sanctuary covers approximately 12 acres (50,000 square meters) and provides a home for various animals, including bears, wolves, deer, and donkeys.

Visitors can experience nature while learning about the animals and the importance of protecting wildlife.

What makes this story remarkable isn’t just the number of animals Petar has helped, but how one small bear cub inspired him to dedicate his life to their care.

Years after their first meeting, Maša remains at the heart of everything he has built.

Sometimes, saving one animal doesn’t just change its life — it changes yours forever. ❤️🐻
